Richard Parkes Bonington: The exhibition runs concurrently with the Delacroix retrospective at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
For the first time in New York these romantic masters are being shown simultaneously and one can experience the results of their brief and significant mutual inspiration.
Patrick Noon, Senior Curator of Paintings at the Minneapolis Institute of Art and author of the Bonington catalogue raisonné describes in the catalogue essay of the exhibition the relationship between Bonington and Delacroix:
“Without question, they would share a moment of intense mutual inspiration as brief and as significant to the history of painting as would be comparable collaborations between Gauguin and Van Gogh at Arles or Picasso and Braque in Paris.”
The exhibition includes loans from the Yale Center for British Art and previously unseen pictures from private collections, including Delacroix and Corot.
Richard Parkes Bonington represents our second exhibition celebrating Richard L. Feigen’s sixty years in the art business.
